2025 Salt Lake City Parks and Public Lands Needs Assessment Survey

Dear Salt Lake City Resident,
We are proud of Salt Lake City’s parks, open spaces, and trails. At the same time, we want to make them better so that they can serve you better. The Salt Lake City Public Lands Department is conducting a statistically-valid survey to understand the public’s needs and establish priorities for future improvements to and management of parks and public lands.

The Public Lands Department of Salt Lake City completed a similar survey in 2017 and a needs assessment report in 2019. The City recognizes that much has changed in our growing community since then. Our parks are more important than ever before, for both the well-being of our residents and the livability of our communities. The City is committed to building a better public lands system that meets everyone’s needs, especially as our population grows, which is why your participation is critical.

Your response to the following survey is extremely important. This survey will take approximately 10-15 minutes to complete, and your response to each question is important. Please consider each question carefully. The time you invest in completing this survey will help Salt Lake City to take a community-driven approach to making decisions that will enrich the future of our spaces and positively affect the lives of those that enjoy our city every day.

We sincerely appreciate your time. We have selected ETC Institute, an independent agency and experts in statistically-valid surveying, as our partner to administer the survey. They will compile the data and present the results to Salt Lake City. Your responses will remain completely confidential. If you have any questions regarding this survey, or Salt Lake City parks and public lands in general, please call the Public Lands Department at (801) 972-7800.

Thank you in advance for helping us create a better future for public lands in Salt Lake City. We look forward to reviewing your feedback.
